The origin of life is one of the great unsolved problems of science. Nobody knows how, where or when life originated. About all that is known for certain is that microbial life had established itself on Earth by about three and a half billion years ago. In the absence of hard evidence of what came before, there is plenty of scope for disagreement.		生命の起源は解明されていない科学の大問題の１つだ。いつ，どこでどのようにして生命が生まれたのか？その答えはわかっていない。はっきりしているのは，約35億年前には地球上に微生物が存在していたということくらいだ。それ以前にどんな生命がいたのかについては確かな証拠はなく，見解はさまざまに分かれている。
